  • Team Volunteers Needed for Spring Season

    Posted February 19, 2019

    HEAD AND ASSISTANT COACHES

The Head and Assistant Coaches are volunteers in charge of anything related to the training of the soccer teams. They have at least a basic understanding of the game of soccer.
The Head and Assistant Coaches need to be available for all practices and games.
    Main duties include but are not limited to;
    Running practices
Deciding on what skills and concepts need to be developed
    Teaching the rules of soccer
    Coaching during games
Communicating with families and LSC officials
Head coaches work out various roles with their assistants based on interests, knowledge, and experience as well as the team's needs.
All head and assistant coaches are required to undergo a background check to help ensure player safety.
The head coach is responsible for attending a coaches meeting per season with our coaching director as well as a district wide scheduling meeting to help schedule games with district coaches for the season.

    TEAM PARENTS

Parents also can volunteer to help coordinate team activities. Please contact your child's coach to inquire about the specific kinds of ways you may be able to help. These may include:
Looking up directions for away games and sending them to the head coach
Signing up families to bring halftime drinks and snacks for each game
Sending email reminders about upcoming games
    Help coordinate an end-of-season party

Please remember that moving forward (beginning the fall 2018 season), all coaches and volunteers MUST be registered as such on our website. Visit the home page of our website to register. Thank you all so much for volunteering to make our soccer season a tremendous success.

  • New Refs: Training is currently OPEN for registration

    Posted February 19, 2019

New Referee - Grass Roots Training is currently OPEN for registration.

Summary of the Grass Roots Training Process:

The New Referee - Grassroots Training process (formerly known as Entry Level Training) is a combination of an On-Line Training Course to be completed at your own pace and once completed registration and attendance to (1) in-person/in-class session of 5 hours. Two Grassroots Training sessions will be offered per year.

    Session I:
Grassroots Training registration and access to the online modules will be open through 8/31/18. Once the online modules are complete you will register for and attend one required "in-person" session. The required "in-person" sessions will start 8/11/18 and run through 9/9/18. At least one "in-person" session will be available on a first come first serve basis almost every weekend somewhere in the state in that time period. Once the online training process and in-person session is complete, certification is valid for the remainder of 2018 and all of calendar year 2019. If you do not complete the "full" Grassroots Training process in Session I you may complete the training process in Session II.

    Session II:
Grassroots Training registration for Session II will open 1/15/19 and run through 3/31/19 with the required in person sessions starting in mid-February and ending April 7, 2019. Once the Grassroots Training Process is complete certification is valid for the remainder of 2019.

You must complete the entire New Referee - Grassroots Training process, including the in person session by 4/7/19; at this point there is no carryover to the next session and there will be no refunds.

It is imperative that you READ the On-Line Course Instructions document

Fall 2018 Star Hill Jamboree Sportsmanship Award

Congratulations to LSC U12 boys rec team and coaches Noel Raymond & Sean Archer!

A very well deserved award will be given to this U12 team as they were singled out and recommended by the officials and NE District personnel at the Star Hill Jamboree for the Sportsmanship award!

Note from Star Hill:
We are not surprised at all by this recommendation as LSC always has great programs. Nice bunch of players, coaches, parents. A pleasure to have them all at Star Hill. We hope more rec teams will participate in the future.
