Lebanon Soccer Club

I Want to Volunteer. Now What?

LSC is a non-profit, all volunteer organization run by soccer moms and dads. It is planned, coached, organized and run for the benefit of our children. Hundreds of hours go into the club's yearly operations.

We are always looking for volunteers to fill a variety of positions and work on different projects like....coaching, assisting a team, being a team parent, working shifts at our Lebanon Fair booth, working at our Fall Classic Tournament, lining the fields, helping with field maintenance, etc. There are SO many things that we can always use extra hands for.

All help is appreciated. If you would like to help but aren't sure how to start, feel free to email any of our Board Members. Visit the Contact Us tab on the home page to find Board Member emails. New faces bring new ideas and new ideas build a stronger club for our kids. You are also welcome to attend our monthly board meetings to find out ways you can help. Our meetings take place the first Wednesday of the month at the Lebanon Community Center (upstairs) at 7pm.

If you would like to help out in any way with our club, CJSA requires all volunteers over 18 to be registered and pass a background check. This includes all board members, coaches, assistants, and any other volunteers in direct contact with children. The check takes 5 minutes to complete and is free to the club. Simply visit the home page and find the REGISTER NOW button for Board Members and Volunteers to complete your volunteer registration.

On behalf of the LSC Board, we thank you for any time you are willing to give.

What Are The Different Ways I Can Volunteer?

How to Volunteer
All volunteers (Parent coaches, team parents, etc.) must must undergo a backround check sponsered by the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA). The backround check is free and takes under 5 minutes to complete. The backround check requirement applies to all LSC volunteers, coaches, referees and board members.  You can find this on the home page where you register your child to play. Select the Volunteers & Team Parent REGISTER NOW button to complete the process.

Volunteer at the CT Renaissance Faire

Renaissance Faire Parking Attendants (August 31-Sept 2)

It's not often opportunities like this comes around, and we are very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to be part of helping the CT Renaissance Faire and raise money for much needed soccer fields for our kids at the same time.

This is a large undertaking and we need many adults to help park cars. We also need groups of LSC players in uniform to collect parking donations. 3 hours of your time is more appreciated than you can possibly imagine. There are many hours to fill over two weekends and if we all come together as one huge soccer family we can do a lot of good for our kids.

Thank you in advance for your time and support!

Additional Ways to Volunteer

The Head and Assistant Coaches are volunteers in charge of anything related to the training of the soccer teams. They have at least a basic understanding of the game of soccer.
The Head and Assistant Coaches need to be available for all practices and games.
Main duties include but are not limited to;
Running practices
Deciding on what skills and concepts need to be developed
Teaching the rules of soccer
Coaching during games
Communicating with families and LSC officials
Head coaches work out various roles with their assistants based on interests, knowledge, and experience as well as the team's needs.
All head and assistant coaches are required to undergo a background check to help ensure player safety.
The head coach is responsible for attending a coaches meeting per season with our coaching director as well as a district wide scheduling meeting to help schedule games with district coaches for the season.

Parents also can volunteer to help coordinate team activities. Please contact your child's coach to inquire about the specific kinds of ways you may be able to help. These may include:
Looking up directions for away games and sending them to the head coach
Signing up families to bring halftime drinks and snacks for each game
Sending email reminders about upcoming games
Help coordinate any end-of-season parties

Please remember that moving forward (beginning the fall 2018 season), ALL coaches and volunteers MUST be registered as such on our website. Please feel free to reach out to our Coaching Director, Noel Raymond at noelified@gmail.com, if you have any questions about coaching, assitant coaching or becoming a team parent.

Every December our entire membership is notified about our Annual General Meeting at which we begin the selection process for the board for the coming year. We encourage any member interested in becoming a new board member to attend the annual meeting and to contact any current board member who will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the election process. The board meets once a month throughout the year, see the master calendar for the schedule. The board meetings are open to all LSC members so we encourage you to attend one to find out more about participation. See our Contact Us Page for a listing of the current LSC board members.
